California-based drone maker Skydio has delivered its first batch of X10D drones to a deploying US Army unit as part of Tranche 2 of the Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program. The company announced that hundreds of its drones were shipped within just five days of receiving the order — an urgent request from a unit preparing for imminent deployment.

Florida Legislature passes law restricting where you can fly your drone

Thursday, the Florida State Senate took up SB 1422, a bill to restrict drone flights over critical infrastructure and allow individuals the ability to bring down drones using “reasonable force” if they are flying over their property. However, the body substituted the less controversial House bill, passing it unanimously and sending it to the Governor.

FAA gives green light to DEXA’s drone delivery plans

Drone Express, now operating as DEXA, has reached two major milestones in its mission to bring fast, autonomous drone deliveries to your doorstep. The Ohio-based company has received FAA Part 135 Air Carrier Certification, allowing it to fly drones beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) for commercial deliveries across the US. It also earned a spot on the Department of Transportation’s S-1 List — an exclusive list of drones approved for safe, national operations.
